Electional Astrology follows on from Horary, in that we are trying to elect a time for which a horary chart would give a favourable response.

The basis behind this age old technique is that we have a specific project in mind - a marriage, new business, job application, new diet, law suit, etc. - and we wish to initiate this project at the most favourable time. It must be noted that there is no guarantee that there will be a 'good' time to start something, or indeed a 'good' time within the next five years, say, but we can usually find some kind of favourable conditions which will enhance our chances of sucess, even if only minimally.

There is a quicker, easier (and cheaper) method, in which a Horary question is asked, such as: 'When, over the next year, is the best time to launch a publishing business?'

'Proper' Elections are done using the birth-chart of the individual(s) concerned as well as the forthcoming movements of the planets on a minute by minute basis. It is more involved and time consuming than Horary, but what this method can offer over 'Horary Elections', is a more meaningful analysis, which is finely tuned to the personal purpose and rewards from the project in addition to the mere question of outward success.
